GBED 자유장학금(Need-Based Financial Scholarship)

Application for 2023 Spring Semester


- Please check the Korean language proficiency requirements below.

- Required document lists are designated, so please check in advance. Please note that if the required documents are not submitted, your application will be excluded from the examination.


1. Eligibility

   A. Students who are currently attending 1st or 2nd semester of Global Basic Education Division

   C. Online interview with academic professor is required

   D. Minimum of 12 credits, GPA 2.5 or higher in 2023 Spring Semester

   E. Students who meet the following Korean language proficiency requirements as of the date of application

Current Status

Korean Language Proficiency

Attending 1st semester

Exempted

Attending 2nd semester

TOPIK Grade 3 or higher (Expiration date is irrelevant)

    ※ TOPIK certificates can be replaced by completion results of equivalent or higher Korean language 



2. Application Procedure


   A. Online Interview with Academic Professor (Prerequisites)

      1) Period: April/24/2023 (Mon.) – May/19/2023 (Fri.)

      2) How to apply for interview: contact individually via Email


   B. Preparation of Evidential Documents

      * if the required documents are not submitted, your application will be excluded from the examination.

Family Relations Certificate (亲属关系证明, 戶籍, 住民票, etc.)

Income Tax Payment Certificate

* Required of both parents(Guardians)


- 국가 및 지역별 소득 증빙서류 목록 <- Click and download

Submit the certificate designated for each country/region


- In case of engaging in income activities in Korea: Submit 근로소득원천징수영수증/소득금액증명원

 

- In case of freelancer or a one day worker who cannot issue the certificate: Submission of payroll statement from January to December 2022 is mandatory


- In case of no earning: submit documents proving no income, such as 소득없음사실증명원, certificate of tax exemption, certificate of health insurance payment, etc.

TOPIK Transcript 

* Required of the students in 2nd semester

TOPIK certificates can be replaced by completion results of equivalent or higher Korean language courses taken at Yonsei Korean Language Institute(KLI).

   C. Online Application

      1) Period: May/1/2023 (Mon.) – June/2/2023 (Fri.)

   D. Submission of Evidential Documents (Both ①, ②)

      ① Submit a copy of all the documents via e-mail : May/1/2023 (Mon.) – June/2/2023 (Fri.)

         - E-mail Address: gbed@yonsei.ac.kr

         - File Format: PDF only (Combine all the documents into ONE PDF file in order)

         - Email Title & File Name: "Student Number_Name_GBED Financial Scholarship”

       After emailing the documents, submit original versions offline: by June/9/2022 (Fri.)

         - Mailing Address: 서울특별시 서대문구 연세로 50 연세대학교 미우관 803호 [글로벌인재대학 행정팀 장학금 담당자]

         - Make sure to write down your student number and name on the front page of the documents.


   E. Result Announcement: noticed via personal email registered on the Yonsei portal at the end of July 2023.


   F. Payment: paid directly to your Korean bank account registered on the Yonsei Portal during August 2023. Please make sure to register your account in advance. (The sum of this scholarship and other tuition scholarships(e.g., 우수외국인장학금, GBED 진리장학금(성적), 정부초청장학금) cannot exceed the tuition amount.)



3. Precautions


   A. Only application form and documents submitted within the period will be received, so please submit them within the deadline.

   B. The more supporting documents you can submit the higher your chances of success will be.

   C. If the interview with academic professor has not been carried out, the application will not be accepted.

   D. All the evidential documents should be prepared in Korean or English. The documents not in Korean or English must be translated.

   E. Scholarship may be canceled if the contents of the application or documents are found to be false.
