GBED Need-Based Financial Scholarship(자유장학금)

Application Announcement: 2025 Spring Semester


<NOTICE>

- Please follow the guidelines below, and make sure to submit all the “Required” documents designated for the scholarship. (If not submitted, application will not be reviewed.)


- The Statement of Reasons is required to be completed in a given form and submitted after receiving a confirmation signature from your Academic Professor.


- Proof of the annual income of both parents(guardians) must be submitted.  In case of proving no income, only documents submitted after notarization are accepted.



1. Eligibility


A. Currently attending 1st or 2nd semester of Global Basic Education Division

B. Interview with GBED academic professor is mandatory

C. Minimum of 12 credits, GPA 2.5 or higher in Spring Semester, 2025.

D. Those who meet the following Korean language proficiency requirements as of date of application

- TOPIK Grade 3 or higher (Expiration date is irrelevant)

- Completion of level 3 or higher at Yonsei Korean Language Institute(KLI)

A. Interview with GBED Academic Professor (이은정 교수님): Prerequisites

 1) Period: April/28/2025 (Mon.) ~ May/30/2025 (Fri.)

 2) How to: Student contacts the academic professor via E-mail

 3) The Statement of Reasons (attached form) must be submitted with the confirmation signature of the academic professor.

Family Relations Certificate (亲属关系证明, 戶籍, 住民票, etc.)

Income Tax Payment Certificates

[Required of both parents(guardians)]

- Submit the certificate designated for each country/region: Refer to the List of Proof of Income Documents of Regions or Countries [Click]


- In case of domestic income, please issue and submit 근로소득원천징수영수증/소득금액증명원


- For freelancers, daily workers, or individuals who are exempt from income tax and therefore cannot obtain a certificate, it is mandatory to submit a payslip for the year 2023 or for the recent 12 months.


- If not engaged in any income-generating activity, it is mandatory to submit documents proving no income, such as 소득없음사실증명원, certificate of tax exemption, certificate of health insurance payment, etc. In this case, only notarized documents will be accepted.

C. Submission of the Application Form & Materials

1) Period: May/7/2025 (Wed.) ~ June/10/2025 (Tue.)

- Fill out and upload the materials on the Google Form

3) How to upload the materials

- File Format: Merge the documents into a single PDF file in the listed order (must be in A4 size).

- File Name: "Student Number_Name_GBED Financial Scholarship”

* Scanned documents must be clearly legible; unclear files will not be accepted.

* Offline submissions are not accepted, but original documents can be requested for verification.

 

D. Result Announcement: to be noticed via student e-mail registered on the Yonsei portal at the end of July 2025.


E. Payment: to be paid directly to your Korean bank account registered on the Yonsei Portal during August 2025. Please make sure to register your account before you apply for the scholarship. If not registered, application may not be reviewed.



3. Precautions [IMPORTANT]

 

A. Only application form and documents submitted within the period will be reviewed. Make sure to submit within the deadline.

B. Students with specific documents supporting their financial need status may be prioritized for review.

C. The total sum of this scholarship and other tuition scholarships (e.g., 우수외국인장학금, GBED진리장학금, 정부초청장학금) cannot exceed the tuition amount.)

  ※ Please note that the GBED진리장학금(Merit-Based Scholarship) is automatically reviewed and granted based on end-of-semester grades (GPA) without an application process.

D. If the interview with the academic professor has not been carried out, the application will not be accepted.

E. Only documents in Korean or English are accepted; documents in other languages must be submitted with a translated version.

F. Scholarship may be canceled if any information provided in the application form or submitted documents is found to be false.
